Using the Wyze Band in Canada
For the past few years, Wyze has been building out their smart home products but most recently they’ve expanded to other products such as a fitness tracker with the Wyze Band.
Setup
The Wyze Band is fairly straightforward to setup. To get started, you’ll need the Wyze app on Android or iOS. Once you’ve created a Wyze account, open the app and tap the + icon in the top left corner.
Then tap Add Device and then choose Wyze Band from the list. You’ll then be given a code on your Wyze Band to pair your phone to the tracker.
Using the Wyze Band
After you’ve connected the Wyze Band to your phone, it’s ready to use. The Wyze Band has a 0.95-inch AMOLED display which is much smaller than other fitness trackers on the market.
It would have been nice to have an always-on display option for the tracker, so you can see the time whenever you glance at your wrist but that would probably eat into the battery life.
Another thing to note is that the band can be slightly hard to take off if you want to swap it out. The clasps attaching the band to the tracker are covered by a small door that you’ll need a screwdriver to something to take off.
The tracker is water-resistant up to 5ATM or 164 ft underwater for 10 minutes. The device is powered by a dual-core processor along with 2 digital mics to talk to Alexa. The battery inside the tracker is 120mAh which lasts around 10 days with normal usage.
The tracker has a heart rate monitor on the back along with charging pins. One thing to note is that there is no proper way to turn off the tracker unless you fully reset it. There’s also no physical buttons on the tracker.
The interface of the band is fairly basic. The main screen shows a clock face and the bottom of the screen has a virtual home button that vibrates when you press it. Holding down the home button brings up Alexa, so you can ask her what’s the weather, smart home controls and more.
To activate Alexa, you’ll need to sign in to your Amazon account via the Wyze app. When you activate Alexa, you won’t get a voice reply back, just a visual response on your Wyze Band.
Swiping up or down from the main screen takes you through a loop of all the features and apps on the tracker. You can change the order within the Wyze app.

Just like other fitness trackers, the Wyze Band can track your steps, heart rate and sleep. In addition to the fitness tracking features, you can control your Wyze smart home devices such as the Wyze Cam Pan, Wyze Plug, Wyze Bulb from the tracker.
When using the band with an Android phone, the Wyze app runs in the background to get notifications from your device and to use Alexa voice commands.
Since I connected the Wyze Band to my Pixel 4 XL, I noticed a significant drop in my phone’s battery life because it’s running in the background. Also, notifications from my phone don’t always seem to appear on the Wyze Band.
In Summary
The Wyze Band works well in Canada without any major issues. All the features work mostly as expected.
